We arrived in Hong Kong to much warmer weather being farther south than Beijing - shorts in Hong Kong. Ming Lee picked us up at the airport and was able to get all our luggage into the converted van. Even with that added weight from the Beijing shopping. Jeff and Janie where dropped of at their hotel in the Downtown area on Hong Kong Island, while Dave and Lisa drove to Katy and Gary's house on the South side of the island. Hong Kong is a country, not really a city so there are several areas, but it all blends into essentially miles of huge buildings. On the island side think San Francisco as it is essentially a mountain popping out of the ocean. Jeff and Janie grabbed a taxi and joined everyone at Katy's. Thier helper cooked us an awesome meal of curry chicken, beans and salad. We had a chance to catch up and prep for the next days big adventure, while enjoying the view and all the kids antics.
There are no bad views in Hong Kong, and Katy's is no exception. Their townhouse is on a cliff overlooking the ocean - just check out the view. With the breeze coming in off the ocean and the sound of the surf you know you are on an island. We are all sure the views we'll see just based on the taxi ride in will be something that new at every turn.
